COVID CATCH-UP

COVID CATCH UP GRANT 2020-21 £33,712

Following the pandemic it is widely recognised that there will have been an impact upon children’s education and childhood experiences and that their normal schooling will have been severely disrupted during the time of National Lockdown and school closure.

The Government have provided all schools with an additional grant to use to help children recover from these unprecedented times and to address the needs of the children following this National crisis. As this situation is new to schools there is no one tried and tested method for addressing the children’s needs and each new intervention will have its “pros and cons”. Whilst deciding how to spend the school grant (currently £33,712) we have considered sources such as Education Endowment Fund resources, spoken to neighbouring schools and responded to our own observations and assessment of children following the return to school.

Our aim is to be transparent with how we are using this funding and to be receptive to new ideas should additional funding become available. We firmly believe that our current approach to support inclusive Quality First Teaching, improved pastoral capacity, increased physical activity and focus upon reading is the right action for our children at this time.

The table below demonstrates how this funding is being used within Wren Park with the costing and the intent behind the activity. We will be reviewing the impact of this funding and make changes if required.
