Computing

Computing – Intent Statement

At Wren Park Primary, it is our intent that children will be equipped with the skills and knowledge to participate confidently and safely in a rapidly changing world where work and leisure activities are being transformed through technology. In order to achieve this, children are taught computing both through discrete lessons and within the wider curriculum which enables children to build skills which are then used within real life contexts.

Through computing we aim to provide the building blocks and inspiration to ask questions, solve problems, create and explore. Our children are the future of our modern society and their interaction and connectivity with the world is fundamental for all our futures. We teach children to be successful and responsible consumers and communicators and we aspire for them to become successful learners and leaders within this digital age.

We intend to ensure learners are proficient in using technology safely to create, research, organise, manipulate and store digital content. This culminates in the strands of e-safety, digital literacy, information technology and computer science being taught in a fun and engaging manner which equips children to be digitally literate, so they can use technology effectively and adapt to the ever-changing world. We aim to provide a curriculum which covers both a broad range of skills as well as providing a deep transferrable knowledge.

If you have any safeguarding concerns regarding children please email: safeguarding@wrenpark.derby.sch.uk (Attendance this term 94.71%- let’s see if we can break the 96% mark soon!)
