Personal Development

At Wren Park, we recognise that the primary years are a key time for children to develop their own identity and aspirations for the future. As well as academic development, it is essential that children are given plenty of opportunities, through the curriculum and beyond, for personal development. By nurturing our children’s personal development skills, we aim to provide the essential knowledge that pupils need to be educated citizens, preparing pupils for their adult lives and teaching them to understand how to engage with society.

Personal Development Vision

The vision for Personal Development at Wren Park is that:

  • Children have opportunities throughout their time at Wren Park to have rich and varied experiences.
  • All children to have high standards of personal behaviour and to develop a positive caring attitude towards other people.
  • Children are given opportunities to explore and develop their own values, beliefs and spiritual awareness
  • To have an understanding of their social and cultural traditions and an appreciation of the diversity and richness of other cultures.
  • All children develop their ‘cultural capital’ while at Wren Park, by learning more and remembering more.
  • Physical and mental well-being are prioritised as much as academic achievements.
  • Families are involved wherever possible, to support all areas of their child’s personal development

Personal Development Overview

The Personal Development Overview is a work in progress and is subject to developments and review on a half termly basis.
